Vaulted Sky Music was launched in 2018. I have a sense of being a curator of this music and wanted to make it available so many more cellists of all ages and levels of experience could enjoy and learn all it has to teach us as cellists and musicians. There are now cello ensembles around the world loving and performing these arrangements.
I have the most remarkable designer, Suzie Johanson who took over from Max Carrington. Both love colour and have a strong sense of eye-catching images. Together, we have had a feeling for the importance of honouring the music with its presentation. The cover designs are beautiful and individual. The cover is bigger than the music to preserve the pages. There is follow-through and we use strong, white, non-reflective, recycled paper, good-sized print and our pages open out, so you avoid page turns. There are helpful notes for rehearsal and teeny biographies of the composers to trigger your curiosity. The music has a spiral binding, so it opens out with ease. It is all with you, the player, in mind.
There are currently four volumes of the Unsung Heroes Cello Ensemble music that now ranges from the Renaissance through to the late Romantic era. I have arranged twentieth-century music of many composers too for courses and workshops. I will be setting up a stream of scores for download as well as bringing out further ensemble collections.
There will be more music for solo cello and piano in time. Currently, we have a highly melodic set of pieces called One Chair in a Room by Mark Sinclair. These are the kind of fat tunes cellists love to play and the music comes with a piano CD for the cellist to rehearse with. This collection is ideal for cellists from Grade 6 upwards.
